Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home has a long standing history of being a Troy family owned and
operated business. Founded in 1926 by Daniel D. Purcell Sr., the funeral home was operated at
450 Fourth Street in Troy. To keep up with his growing increase in funerals each year Mr.
Purcell eventually moved his funeral home to Pawling Avenue and settled into our current
location at 510 Pawling Avenue where the funeral home has been located since 1966 where
Mr. Purcell’s son Daniel Jr. directed the day-to-day business of the funeral home.
In 2001 the business again transitioned into a new generation of Purcell family funeral directors
and Linda Purcell Rinella, granddaughter of the founder took ownership and continued on the
family tradition of funeral service. Linda’s kind and caring manner transitioned the funeral
home into an entirely new realm of funeral care that is noted by many of the families the
funeral home still serves today.
In October of 2020 the Collett family purchased the Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home. Jeffery and
his son Daniel Collett, second and third generation licensed funeral directors, are the two
directors of the family and are proud to continue operating the funeral home in the “family
owned and operated” style that Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home families are accustomed to.
Following the Collett’s acquisition of the business, facilities have been updated and some newer
funeral trends have been introduced to the funeral home to better meet today’s funeral family
needs. Jeff and Dan are available all hours of the day to meet with families interested in
prearranging/prefunding funerals as well as immediate need funeral services and pride
themselves on accommodating a family’s scheduling needs in today’s busy world.
In 2021 Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home became proud provider of Collett Memorials LLC.
Collett Memorials LLC is the Collett Family’s monument design and sales company. Our
monument company is another example of making funeral and cemetery arrangements easier
for families. We offer this to our families in hopes of simplifying the aftercare process for them
in designing and purchasing monuments.
