Robert G. Ryan Sr.

Robert Gerard "Bobby" Ryan, 84, formerly of Troy, peacefully entered into eternal life on Wednesday, August 19th, 2026.

Born in Troy, N.Y., he was the son of the late Mary (Mccann) and William Ryan, and was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1961.

Mr. Ryan worked 32 years at General Electric in Waterford before retirement and then followed that was a long tenure working part time for Manheim in Clifton Park. Previous to General Electric he served with honor in the US Navy aboard the USS Proteus in Holy Lock, Scotland.

Bobby's real passions in life were NASCAR, stock car racing and his beloved Buffalo Bills. He was a devoted fan of Richard Petty, Kevin Harvick & Ryan Blaney. He would often travel to Daytona Beach & Loudon, New Hampshire to watch the races. Every Friday he would go to the races at Albany Saratoga Speedway along with the occasional trip to Lebanon Valley Speedway.

Devoted father of Robert (Julie) Ryan Jr he was predeceased by his late sisters Maureen (Mo) Ryan and Patricia Ryan.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, September 1st, 2026, at 10AM., at Sacred Heart Church, 310 Spring Street, Troy. Interment will immediately follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Troy.

Robert's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to everyone at Shadybrook Personal Care Home in Marietta GA and Agave Hospice and Palliative Care for all their kindness and devotion.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 38, in memory of Robert Ryan.
