Margaret "Peggy" Fournier, 76, of Poestenkill, NY passed away unexpectedly on January 27th with her family by her side.
Born on April 23rd, 1949 in Troy, Peggy spent most of her early life in Lansingburgh, NY. She first attended Catholic Central High School prior to moving to Goshen, NY and later Cooperstown, NY where she spent her senior year of high school. After graduation, Peggy attended St. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing in Albany, NY where she graduated in 1970.
Peggy spent her adult career in the nursing field as an RN. She started out at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY before spending over 40 years at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy, NY, from where she eventually retired in 2011. Many of her years were spent in the emergency room where she was able to have a remarkable impact on the patients that she cared for. It was during this time that she made many lifelong friends. She was a selfless, caring woman who always put others before herself, both at work and in her personal life.
Peggy loved to travel, especially to Ireland, England, Italy, Hawaii and Las Vegas, where her favorite game was "Let it Ride". She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and a converted Yankees fan after many grueling years as a Mets fan. She loved reading her kindle and watching courtroom tv shows and dramas. In addition to her personal interests, her favorite passion was family time. She loved family gatherings where she could see her family from both near and far. Her endless stories could always bring a smile to everyone's face, along with her infectious smile and laugh. If there were people smiling, you knew Peggy was around.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Jerry Fournier whom she married on January 19th, 1974; her three children whom she adored, Jeff Fournier, Chris Fournier (fiancé Stacie Mihok), and Beth Fournier; her cherished grandson Dylan Fournier and his wife Rachel Fournier; her sisters Maureen (William) Denig and Colleen (Michael) Frey; brother in-laws Jim (Dolores) Fournier, Bob (Cathy) Fournier and sister in-law Mary (Brian) Lord; and best friend/cousin/bonus sister Cathy Higgitt.
