Yetto, John G. Sr. - Brunswick
John G. Yetto Sr. longtime resident of Brunswick passed away peacefully in the Van Rensselaer Manor on Sunday January 19th 2025. He was 82. Son of the late Samuel and Ann Ross Yetto. Beloved husband of the late Mary Lou Yetto.
Educated in Troy schools, John was a graduate of Troy High School. Following high school he went on to enjoy a long career on the Troy Fire Department and was a volunteer firefighter for Mountain View Fire Company. On his hours outside of the firehouse John was a long time employee of George Washington Elementary School. An avid fisherman John could be found fishing at the family camp on Cossayuna Lake where countless memories were created with his numerous grandchildren. John and Mary Lou enjoyed their long stay vacations during the New York State winters in Florida.
John is survived by his sons John Jr.(Dawn), Gary (Kim), Matthew (Cindy) and Peter (Angela) Yetto. Also survived by his grandchildren Jonathan, Jessica, Timothy, Jacob, Justin, Jared, P.J, Bryan, and Ryan, and Great Grandchildren Jameson Yetto and Rona. Also surviving; John's Daughter in law Jacquelyn Finn and siblings Marie Rojker and Anne Trudeau.
In addition to John's parents and wife he is predeceased by his son Joseph Yetto, and siblings Samuel Jr. and Rene Yetto.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for John on Wednesday January 29th at 10:30am in Sacred Heart Church, Troy. Interment will immediately follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Troy. Family and friends are invited and may visit with John's family in the Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home, 510 Pawling Avenue, Troy on Tuesday January 28th 5-7pm.
