James H. Murray Sr.

James H. Murray Sr. life long resident of Troy passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14th, in the Van Rensselaer Manor in North Greenbush. Beloved husband of the late Pamela Sullivan Murray who passed in 2003.

Jim was a "social butterfly" in the Troy area. Jim answered the call to serve his nation in the United States army and served his military obligation in the later years of the Korean era. Jim was honorably discharged from the army in 1958. An avid dart enthusiast and bowler Jim was often found enjoying hs weekends away from work playing and enjoying the many area pubs. Jim was a career truck driver for 40 years. Additionally, Mr. Murray was an active member in the Troy Elks and the Emerald Athletic Club in Troy. A loving father and grandfather, Jim will be remembered as a family man and a constant friend to those who shared time with him.

Jim is survived by his children; James (Charlene) Murray Jr., Lisa (Chris) Sutton, Susan (Eddie) McAvoy, Sean (Nicole) Murray, and Sara Murray, his grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Brandy, Amanda, Declan, Danielle, JT, Billy and Mindy. Additionally Jim is survived by 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to Jim's wife Pamela, he was predeceased by his children David Murray and Kathleen Weis and his sister Margaret Jane Tansey.

Family and friends are invited to visit with Jim's family on Sunday March 22 from 1pm until 5pm in the Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home, 510 Pawling Avenue, Troy. The funeral service and interment will be held privately Monday, with interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rensselaer.
